So what do you need to do for your XtremeJoy Fitness?
I believe that the Centers for Disease Control has the right solution – a good BRISK walk or riding your bike at a BRISK pace. My friend, Dee, is actually in charge of promoting walking and biking at CDC. Research has shown that either one will be enough to get you in the aerobic zone.
Now does not mean the extreme of waddling along even though you might have to start off that way. ANY movement of your body is better than none at all! However please check with your physician before you begin any exercise program! There could be a blockage that ANY exercise could drastically effect. People have been known to drop dead several hours after a stress test at their physician’s office. That is why it’s imperative to have a very thorough exam before taking up any exercise program.
After you have been approved by your physician then get yourself ready to begin walking or riding at a BRISK pace. That does not mean that you have to be jogging or running. CDC recommends exerting enough energy so that you at least break a sweat.
Before you begin your BRISK walk or ride you should do a thorough STRETCHING of your body. This will help to prevent any injuries that could occur like a pulled muscle. One of the best stretching programs is Hatha Yoga. Not only will you get the stretching in but you will get the HEALTH benefits from the Yoga!
I would recommend that you get yourself some loose fitting clothing and be as comfortable as possible. Fashion is not required! Then see how far you can walk or ride at this BRISK pace before you are having a hard time breathing. You should be able to carry on a conversation or sing while either walking or biking.
By all means make sure that you are continually hydrating yourself either with the walking or biking! For those that don’t know the term “hydrating” it refers to keeping yourself drinking water as you exercise. Dehydration can lead to serious problems. The hydrating also flushes out the toxins from your body as you exercise. Ladies also the more you hydrate the more likely you will start the Youthing process we have talked about before!
Are you going to be sore after this exercise? Most likely but that is GOOD! Soreness is OK but do NOT push yourself till you feel PAIN especially in the beginning.
