Gram Parsons
Gram, who is the undisputed King of Country Rock, was my close friend at the military turned prep school Bolles in Jacksonville, Florida, where I grew up.
Both the Rock N Roll and Country Music Halls of Fame have NEVER inducted him, which to me and his millions of fans is an injustice, which I plan to rectify with a public relations campaign.
They are both going to find I’m a pit bull when I’m on a mission as the largest transmission repair company found out during my Post Newsweek TV Group consumer investigation that led to their bankruptcy! The current company realized the sins of the defunct one and have as far as I know not committed them!
So for you uninformed, Gram was as Exclusive Radio describes him as “an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. Parsons recorded as a solo artist and with the International Submarine Band, the Byrds, and the Flying Burritos Brothers.”
Gram created what he called “Cosmic American Music” where country, R&B, soul, rock and country came together.
I’m the cofounder of the Southern Music HOF and all five of these music genres originated in the USA South along with gospel, bluegrass, jazz, and beach music. He was our first inductee.
He also discovered a female singer from Alabama, who joined him as a singer but more importantly as a dear friend – Emmalou Harris.
Gram was close friends with legendary actor Peter Fonda and Rolling Stones Keith Richards.
He was finally honored in 2003 with the President’s Award by the American Music Association and Rolling Stone named him #87 in their list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.
But the Rock N Roll and Country Music HOFs still have not inducted him!
They need a WAKE UP CALL from this pit bull and are they going to get one!
