Passion for PERFECTION
Tom Peters nailed it: PASSION FOR PERFECTION! If for some reason you have never heard of TOM PETERS then Google him! Then read EVERY book he has authored!
Today you do NOT see PASSION FOR PERFECTION! My Mom was a true blue PERFECTIONIST and now her son has that same trait in him! Yes it can DEFINITELY be a HUGE pain in the a–!
This is especially with the high level of INDIFFERENCE and STUPIDITY we see today!
I agree with what my mentor King Solomon said about STUPID people: they should NOT be tolerated in a society!
I especially see this with DESIGNERS of products. Today I was trying to open a can of tuna with one of those pull top lids. Well this one must have been designed for Hercules or Zena to open! I’m pretty strong and I could not get the lid to budge. Finally I slipped a knife edge under the area where it normally pops open. I then was able to get it open!
Now the company that makes this can brags about how the size is just perfect for us “young seniors” to use without having to have leftover tuna. That’s true but most seniors don’t possess the strength of Hercules or Zena! They need to make sure the damn can will open easily for us!
So if you are a designer, would you at least run tests (lots of them!) with your target market BEFORE you hoist some so-called nifty designed item on us! Also will you test it over and over to make sure it does what you claim!
If you don’t then a hex upon you and your product/service!
More Thoreau in next post who would agree 100% with this post!

Hugh,
Saw your post on Gram Parsons, Bolles, and a Jacksonville tribute of some sort. Wonder if you’d be interested in teaming with me on a Gram Parsons InterNational Jacksonville. I’ve been pushing a petition to induct Gram into the Country Music Hall of Fame since ’07 (over 12,000 signers), and have been producing a two night fest called Gram InterNational in Nashville (going on eight years) and other cities. I’ll cc out my sig file here for more. I usually do the concerts in the fall, last year Toronto and Nashville; I may be looking at Bakersfield CA, Toronto and Nashville this year. Could add Jacksonville if teamed with you. At any rate, keep up the great work. Cheers, Will James

“I feel qualified to say how together and slick The Gram InterNational Fest was. Every act, all very professional I might add, started and stopped seamlessly, all beginning and ending on time, quickly and efficiently sound checked, and supportive of each other. And why was this all so smooth you ask? Well the answer is Will James. If you’ve never promoted or organized an event you have no idea what I’m talking about. If you have then you should be in awe of how well things ran since you should know first hand that they usually don’t go off like this event did without a dozen train wrecks. I’ve been on both sides of the fence as I performed at dozens of these festivals and this one was right up there with the best of them. I was incredibly proud to be a part of it.” — Tokyo Rosenthal, The Tokyo Rosenthal Radio Show Host and Musician, November 2014
“Parsons would have turned 66 on Monday…. He lives, though, in trembling melodies, in book pages, in hearts on fire and on the hickory wind. ‘I feel optimistic that one day he’ll be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame,’ [Will] James says. … I share his enthusiasm for the music of a long-gone renegade.”
Peter Cooper, The Tennessean and currently Editor, The Country Music Hall of Fame, Nov. 2, 2012
“Listening back to [Parsons’] classic recordings … there’s no doubt he was a fabulous talent whose influence seems to get greater each year. The sixth edition of this annual Parsons tribute is expanding to two nights.”
Jack Silverman, The Nashville Scene (Critic’s Pick 2013)
“The Annual Gram National… and their petition site (gramparsonspetition.com) has the testimonials to prove that [Parsons] is perceived as more than merely a cult-status footnote in the annals of Country Music History.”
D. Patrick Rodgers, The Nashville Scene (Critic’s Pick 2012)
“I just wonder how the organizers of Gram National are going to top themselves next year.”
The Noise, Boston
“Gram National came to Beantown, kicked-ass and took names!”
Drew Townson, Analog Planet, Twang ’em High
“Holy, and shit. In that order. Gram National 2010 was an amazing two days of some the best music I’ve heard in a long time.”
