Delle was definitely experiencing LONELINESS after losing her husband Bob after more than 45 years of marriage. I could certainly understand her situation.
I'm a Christian, who has discovered THE MESSAGE BIBLE that I even gave a copy to Delle.
When we would get together we would have morning Bible study, which she loved to do as a Christian.
In the book of GALATIANS, PAUL has this to say:
"It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; and frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness."
The Message Bible
Galatians 5:19-21
So further down these verses Paul says what brings about these situations in our lives: PARANOID LONELINESS!
I think this is what happened with Delle. She had a wonderful life with her deceased husband Bob. Then for three years she had me to entertain her three times per year. Then she decided to see if she could find someone to date locally. That didn’t work out. Then she went to the Internet and found Jim. Of course after he dumped her, she must have some way hooked up with John, who turned out to be my good friend’s friend.
She was getting close to 70 and was afraid that her time for finding a new husband as she thought was so important in the Catholic Church was running out. Also I knew that Delle was a person, who enjoyed continuous companionship like she had experienced in her wonderful life with Bob since she was either 19 or 20 years old.
So if SEXUAL involvement was the only way it was going to be a sure fire way to make sure she had this companionship, I guess she decided her previous decision could be amended!
As we can see PARANOID LONELINESS can cause us to change our perspective on life and this is exactly what FINANCIAL PREDATORS™ rely on happening with WEALTHY WIDOWS, WIDOWERS and DIVORCEES!
